Why are so many people getting worked up about the 2012 apocalypse?

its just like the new millenium apocalypse. Just because the Mayan calender ends doesn't mean the world will. I seriously want to make bets that all who reads this will live p this date. *regardless whether or not you believe there will be a tomorrow concept* I just can't wait until we all live p that day, so that i can laugh at all these gullible people. and if my bet were to happen, i couldn't wait until i swim in my pile of money < lol
