Why do people look at you crazy when?

you acknowledge blatant racism? i'm working in an all white environment. this simple fact i have no problem with. but the fact that they look at me and treat me as if i am inferior.. without even speaking to me (getting to know me). they speak to me as if i am a child.. in such a condescending tone. i was hired along with another white male and they talk to him with respect and kindness. i spoke with my mother about this and she just smiles and laughs at my frustration. she tells me that she has been dealing with it since the 60s.. "you just become immune to it". really? i'm just supposed to "deal" with unprofessionalism?
