Does anyone remember the title of this book? teen frankenstein story?

I remember reading this series (2 or 3 books) in the 90's. But it could have been published in the late 80's as well. The story is modern and set in a suburb, high school, etc. It is sad almost haunting, about a teenager who brings another back from the dead like Victor Frankenstein. The boy's name is close to Frankenstein as well... There may have been lightning on the cover of one of the books...I am trying to remember the name of the books or the author...Please Help!
