a new timing belt can go bad or break,if it was going to act up it would have done it long before this incident,the squealing you was hearing probably was coming from an out side belt ,the serpentine belt will cause that noise,if it did jump timing you can try and work with them,but after a year i doubt they will do this work for free,an improper install would have not lasted a year,it would have caused problems long before this,but you may have bent valves in it,have then double check it to be sure,good luck.
