What is the true story version of Robinson Crusoe?

I'm very curious.. i know that Robinson Crusoe by Defoe is based off of a true story. But how close is the book to the true story? Was his real name Robinson Crusoe? Was it in the 1600's? How long was he on the island? Were there cannibals on the real island? Im just curious how close it is to the book because it's a great story in my opinion.
